The game ended in 1880 with a four European power Great War resulting from the collapse of an Anglo-French deal in Egypt; France belatedly decided its treaty of partition with Great Britain was too favorable to the British and reneged. Great Britain, in concert with Italy and Japan, declared war on France for the treaty breach. When Great Britain refused German mediation, Germany declared war on Great Britain, ending the game. Great Britain and Germany took the triple penalty for Great War culpability. There were no Chinese Rebellions. The game was played with two important variant rules: all codominions were treated as partitions, and the ETI threshold for triggering the Great War was secretly randomized (though the game ended before this came into play).
